Kildee: Profit-Sharing Checks Reward Employees for Skill and Work Ethic, Show GM's Renewed Strength

WASHINGTON, D.C. – As General Motors employees receive profit sharing checks, Congressman Dale E. Kildee (D-MI), Co-Chair of the Congressional Automotive Caucus said the checks are further proof that GM is gaining strength and will continue to drive economic growth in local communities.

“In the last few years, we have gone from a feeling of uncertainty and apprehension about the future of the domestic auto industry, to celebrating milestone after important milestone for GM and our auto communities. These profit sharing checks to our hardworking auto employees is the latest in a series of achievements for our area, including the recent announcement of a third shift at Flint Truck and new work in Bay City. GM knows that our communities have highly-skilled and dedicated workers who can get the job done, and these profit sharing checks are a just reward for the workers who are making the success of GM possible.

I am proud of my support of government loans to our automakers, without which we likely would not be celebrating all this good news. These loans were clearly a smart investment of taxpayer money and I am confident that GM is well-positioned to once again be the economic engine that drives the U.S. economy. I look forward to GM continuing to increase production and expand its workforce across our nation.” said Congressman Kildee.
