Saginaw County Green Infrastructure Demonstration Project

Why is this a good use of taxpayers' dollars:

The 5 level parking structure located in the heart of the city was constructed in 1972. Since that time the parking structure has deteriorated significantly to the point where the top story of the structure is no longer unusable. Continued deterioration now threatens the use of the entire structure. All expansion joints need replacement. The entire water removal system needs replacing. Several support lines/columns need replacing. Both handicap elevators need replacement. Entire electrical/energy system needs replacement. To ensure the only major parking structure in the City/County of Saginaw is saved a major construction and repair overhaul is required. Engineering estimates have identified what needs to be accomplished and how it is to be accomplished. The funds will be used to repair the deteriorating parking structure and install solar panels to power the facility.
